Halloween!

Sunday, 1 November 2015

Greg and I always go a little crazy for Halloween! We love all holidays.

So the day before Halloween, we decided to have an evening of pumpkin carving with our friends.

First, we had to find the best pumpkins! Then we got carving :)

This year, Greg had the idea of staging a car accident in our front garden... We have a fairly small garden and no driveway, so I had no idea how this was going to happen.

I also knew that my car would be the prop, so I was hoping he would change his mind!!!

Well, he didn't...! How do you like our end result?!

The kids loved it and I hope we can some how out do ourselves next year!

If you have any ideas or challenges for us, let us know :)

Happy Easter!!!

Tuesday, 7 April 2015

Late - I know!

I hope you all had a great Easter :)

I spent mine sunning it up in Cyprus with my Greggy and family.

Greek Easter is traditionally the first weekend after the full moon - so it is actually next weekend, so I guess I'm not actually late - I'm early!

So Happy Easter!

Do you have Easter at a different time to normal?

Spring - Make it Count!

Wednesday, 1 April 2015

Spring is here! YAY!

Colours are finally starting to appear - the days are getting longer and all of our moods start to improve!

Spring..

What can you do to make your spring count? Here is my top 10!

1. Go for more walks in the sun

2. Go for a drive with someone you love - no destination needed!

3. Take pictures of the outdoors

4. Clothes shopping! The weather is warming up so you need a new wardrobe, right?!

5. Check out the lambing days near you - every year I say I will do this and I always forget - this year, I will not forget!!

6. See the cherry blossoms - they are so incredible!!
(Just be careful not to leave your car underneath one for too long!!)

7. Feed the ducks
(Check out this great post about what to feed ducks -here-)

8. Get DRENCHED in a spring shower!

9. Gardening! Now is the time to do the garden - make it count!
(Plant those flowers!)

10. Do some spring cleaning! I use this opportunity to dust everything!
(Who remembers to dust!?)

Friday the 13th!

Friday, 13 March 2015

Lucky for some? Well one Friday 13th was definitely one of the most unlucky days of my life..

It was a rainy evening last year and Greg and I decided to take a drive to the supermarket at about 10.30pm.

I made the mistake of saying "OOO it's Friday 13th! At least nothing bad has happened" - yeah, can you believe I said that?

We managed to get to the shops, do our shopping and leave - all pretty problem free! Until the drive home..

We were driving down a long stretch of road (50mph limit) that has no street lights and lots of trees. The storm was pretty bad - the rain had stopped but the wind was crazy.

Up ahead, we noticed a police car pulled over in a bus stop - I had a look out my window to see what they were doing - they were both outside of the car but nothing happening other than that, as far as I could see...

Almost as soon as we passed them, we noticed something in the road up ahead - Greg put his full beam on to see that a tree had fallen across both sides of the road. We managed to emergency stop - just hitting it gently - however, the car driving towards us did not see it and did not slow down, despite us flashing our lights at her!

She drove straight into the tree - pushing it into our car. We were fine - we jumped out of the car to check the other car. Greg is a medic and works part time for the Ambulance Service, so he put on a high vis jacket and went to the car. It was a middle aged woman - luckily unhurt but definitely shaken up.

I was fuming because we had just passed the police - we were sure they knew about the tree - that had to be why they stopped! Why didn't they warn us to slow down? WHY hadn't they shut the road??!

Turns out.. They didn't know. They had a flat tyre! That is why they stopped. They heard the crash and ran up to us to see what happened.

A large van came speeding towards us but luckily saw us and slowed right down - he managed to stop the traffic too so no one else hit the tree (as it was completely blocking the road on both sides).

We had no signal down that road - none of us did - so it was lucky that the police were there, otherwise we would never have got help!

NOW how is that for a Friday 13th unlucky day?! Let's just hope today goes better...

Well since writing this, at work, two girls just got coated in a cup of hot tea due to a nerf gun war.. Both are burned! Friday the 13th strikes again!

Has anything happened to you on Friday the 13th?

Pancake Day!

Tuesday, 17 February 2015

Hey all :)

In the UK, we have Pancake Day, which is today! I cannot get enough of pancake day, even though every year I end up having a strop about not being able to make the pancakes right..

I did try to make pancakes for everyone at work but with the electric hob, I didn't succeed and I did give up in the end. My lovely colleague stepped in and made them perfectly though! YUM!

Shrove Tuesday marks the first day of lent (if you are religious!). More info on what Shrove Tuesday can be found here!

SO! About a year ago, just before we got the house, my Mum and I went to Costco and found this amazing pancake pan! Today was my first chance to use it!

I very lightly dabbed coconut oil on each section, not too much as it is non-stick! Then I made the batter.

1 cup flour
1 cup milk (I used skimmed but any is good)
1 egg

THAT SIMPLE! If it looks too thick, add a tad more milk.

As they started to cook, I flipped them (this was intense.. I was convinced they wouldn't come out of the pan.. But then...)

YAY! They are so much fun!

And the ones that didn't look so great? Well they made a great pancake stack!

I put some in a squeezy bottle to try my hand at a Minion pancake....

That is definitely a success - right?!

My favourite topping is lemon and sugar...

What is yours?

Valentines Traditions

Saturday, 14 February 2015

For us, Valentines day isn't really something we worry too much about. We have had the same valentines tradition since forever, and we love it!

Greg did however get me flowers delivered to my work - how cute!

And I did get him these adorable robot choccies from The Whimsical Cake Company

So, firstly, we get up - whenever - today it was 10am-ish! Then we have breakfast. I made us sausages, poached eggs, baked beans and bacon. I am the slowest cook ever, so it took an hour! Hah!

After dossing on the sofa for a few hours, we then go to Costco. We select one of their massive pizzas (pepperoni!) and a case of beer (I like Cubanisto rum beer and Gregs likes Budweiser) and any other naughty snacks along the way. Then we eat and drink for the rest of the day in the comfort of our own home.. No restaurants, no having to wrestle to get into town to have a good time. Home :)

Yum yum yum! Greasy goodness. Back to the diet tomorrow....!

I love my Greg :)

Greg's parents also put us together a bag of goodies! We got champers, sweeties, and some cute heart champagne flutes! And a card with a surprise towards our honeymoon - thank you! :)

What are your traditions?
