My First Car..!

What was your first car?

I was so lucky with my first car. My grandfather left me a trust fund for university - but I was already doing Open University, so I decided to get myself a new car!

My first car was a Citroen C1. I was instantly in love!

I used and abused this car. When I sold it in 2013, it had 200,000 miles on the clock - even though it was only 6 years old!

The most important thing about my car? It protected me. It was safe (even after someone drove into the side of me...!).

Now car safety is something that has always been important to me. Sadly, I have lost friends - the road is a dangerous place.

One time, I had just got my tyres replaced - it was snowing and I was nervous. My tyres were just borderline safe, so I thought it was about time.
(I live in the UK.. Therefore, when it snows, the whole country comes to a standstill. We are just not used to it!)

As the roads were chockablock, I decided (stupidly) to take the country roads home. As I drove around a bend, I lost control of my car and span. Nothing I did corrected the spin and my car kept spinning around and round. I was so scared!

My tyres eventually gripped and my car came to a sideways stop - about a foot away from a brick wall. If I had crashed, I wouldn't have been able to get out of my car and I was in the middle of nowhere, alone.

I was soooo lucky that I got my tyres done!

When was the last time you got your tyres done? I'm not going to lie.. One of the main reasons I put off getting my tyres done is because I have no idea what I am doing. I once took my car to a car garage (that I won't name..) and they tried to charge me £350 for two back tyres! I am sure you can see, the car I had was so little, that was absurd!!

Check out Point S - you literally need your number plate! They then give you the price options, you choose the centre (nearest to you, mine is only 2 miles away) and then you reserve the tyres! All done. No hidden costs or tricks!

  1. I had to replace all but one of my tires last winter, and one needs to be replaced before winter here in Iowa (North-Center of the US. Not as snowy as Canada, but it's still bad). Thankfully, it shouldn't be an issue in a few months. Cars and drivers honestly scare me. Drivers, especially. :-(
