This week, we have the lovely Amy from Allspice & Acrylics. My favourite post is "Hungry For Life" because she is an inspiration. Don't take my word for it - check her out!!
Amy has just got married! Congratulations AmyAmy Oestreicher-Thetford!! Find more about her big day here :)
Here we go!
Hey! Who are you and where do you come from?
Hi! I’m Amy Oestreicher and I’m from the CT/NYC area.
How long have you had your favourite mug?
I’ve had this mug…since I made it. I was obsessed with the Little Miss and Mr. Men series as a kid – I would doodle the little characters in my notebooks, on my shoes…and eventually they ended up on a mug! I’ve loved painting pottery for as long as I can remember – there’s something very therapeutic about applying three layers of paint with a tiny brush, firing it up in the kiln, and getting to see the colors really pop!
It’s also my favorite mug because it’s huge and bowl-sized – optimal for drinking some homemade chicken soup!
Where did it come from?
The mug was an unfired piece I picked up at a do-it-yourself pottery shop. I saw it and thought – hot soup! Must have!
Why this one?
Seeing those characters makes me smile every time! And there really is no better shape for an all-purpose hot liquid mug!
Does it really make your drink taste better?
I believe attitude is everything…so sure, why not?
What is your favourite thing to have in your mug?
Anything steamy and homemade. I’m partial to my mother’s homemade chicken soup with fresh marrow bones, parsnips, and a handful of herbs – (secret combination!)
When do you have your first cuppa?
As soon as I wake up! I need a burning sip of salty liquid to wake up my throat in the morning – gets my vocal chords clear for some vocalizing, rehearsing, and the busy day ahead.
How many hot drinks do you have per day?
If I were home? I’d refill my mug every time I reached the bottom. Unfortunately, nothing reheats as well when you’re on the go. (Sigh.) My favorite mug is not the most practical thing to carry with me out and about. But, that’s what makes it all the more appreciated when I can come back home after a hectic day, curl up with a good book, and heat up some aromatic chicken soup…mmmmm…..
What is your favourite thing to do whilst with your mug?
My favorite thing to do is sip my soup in my mug while my fiancé slurps his down in his own bowl – cuddled up on the couch watching cooking competition shows on TV.
Anything else?
My real favorite thing to do while sipping my mug is paint for hours in my art studio. It’s a cozy feeling to be holding my hot mug in one hand and my paintbrush in the other – my two loves! However, I stopped this routine once I realized it was quite difficult not to splatter acrylic paint in my beverage…not the smartest idea. So now, it’s just slurping from my favorite mug with my favorite fiancé – and I’m pretty happy with that!
A big thank you to Amy for taking part!
